Prof. Dr. Mareike Schoop

Prof. Dr. Mareike Schoop has been Professor of Intelligent Information Systems at the University of Hohenheim since 2004. She was Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford, UK, in 2012 and at Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in 2009.

After studying Computer Science at the University of Hildesheim, Prof. Schoop received her PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, with a thesis entitled “Effective Multidisciplinary Communicaton – A Language-Action Approach to Cooperative Documentation Systems”. Her thesis was ranked among the top 5 IS theses worldwide in the ICIS Doctoral Dissertation Competition. Returning to Germany, she was Assistant Professor at Aachen University where she received the Habilitation and was awarded the Friedrich-Wilhelm Preis of Aachen University.

Professor Schoop received offers of full professorships from the University of  Koblenz, the University of Hohenheim, and the University of Vienna. She leads the Intelligent Information Systems (former Information Systems I) Group at Hohenheim University since 2004 and led an Emmy-Noether Research Group from 2003 until 2008.

Her research interests focus on interorganisational communication and information management. She carries out research into electronic negotiations, negotiation support systems, innovative forms of learning, learning analytics, modelling and evaluation of communication proceeses, and semantic/pragmatic web.
